about

Jota (Trad.)
La Cachucha (Trad.)
La Primavera (Trad.)
The early-to-mid 1800s was the heyday of early California “ranchos” and this period gave birth to a rich tradition of “Alta California” secular dance music. This music has diverse roots ranging from Spain and Mexico, with a mixture of European, American Folk, and Native American influences. I learned these tunes from my good friend and longtime musical partner Luis Moreno, and still love playing them at every opportunity.
